2024 Orono Baseball Registration

Welcome

Important Info for 2024 Orono Baseball Registration

Registration for all ages is now closed. Please reach out to president@oronobaseball.org if you are interested in participating.

We are excited that you are registering your player(s) for the 2024 baseball season! The registration process should be self-explanatory, but please ensure you visit the OBA Programs page to know the correct level of play for your child before registering. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to president@oronobaseball.org.

Before moving forward with registration, please take note of a few important items for the season:

  1. Date of Birth & Proof of Age - You will be asked to provide your child’s date of birth (DOB) and age as of April 30, 2024.  Please take great care in ensuring that the information you enter is correct. Your child’s registration process depends on this DOB/age information being accurate.

While the OBA’s In-House program (younger ages) is generally divided by academic grade-level, participation in traveling leagues and tournaments is determined by age.  This is because the leagues in which we participate (MBL & MYAS) are age-specific.  A player’s age on April 30th determines his eligibility to participate in these leagues and tournaments. However, if a player is young for his grade, he can register for and play on a team to stay with his grade: i.e. a 10YO 5th grader can play with the 11s Travel Team.

OBA requires a copy of a birth certificate on file for all players ages 9 and up. This is to ensure all players meet the requirements of the leagues we participate in. For new OBA travel and tournament players, you will need to upload a copy of your player's birth certificate during registration.  Please have a digital copy of the birth certificate available when you start registration.  Returning players do not need to show proof of age again. Birth certificates will NOT be reviewed/collected at tryouts - we will follow-up with you via email if you fail to upload it during registration.

  2. Evaluations - OBA will continue with the two-session model for baseball evaluations. View the Evaluations page for more details. Both sessions are required for 10-14 year-olds.
    • Session 1 - Sunday, March 17 at Maple Grove Dome. Session 1 is required for all players ages 9-15.  Times will be communicated close to the tryouts date.
    • Session 2 - Tuesday, March 19 at Orono Activity Center. Session 2 is only required for travel 10-14s.

  3. Uniforms - We will be repeating last year's uniform for another season..  All travel players will be required to wear the Under Armour uniform package consisting of two jerseys, one pair of custom UA pants and one Richardson hat. New 10U travel players and new-to-OBA travel players will buy the full package for $195. Returning OBA travel players will be able to purchase replacement/outgrown items a la carte. If you are registering for 10U Travel Team or 11-14U Travel, you will need to order a uniform on one of the fitting dates below (or opt out). The 10U Travel Team players will not be invoiced for their uniforms until teams are posted but they need to place the order by the communicated deadline.

**In House league uniforms are included in the registration fee - a shirt, socks & hat - and will be disbursed via the coach at one of the first practices. No order is necessary for In House leagues. Uniform tops for the 9U tournament teams will be handled separately as well.

Uniform fitting dates will be Thursdays, February 8 OR February 15, 5:00-7:00pm at OAC Lobby. Please stop in at your convenience on either night to get your player fitted and submit order.

Please visit the Uniforms page for more details.

  4. Registration Deadline -  Registration for ages 9-15 will close on Friday, March 1 at 11:59PM. Registration for ages 4-8 will remain open until March 31.

About Orono Baseball Association (OBA)

The OBA is an all-volunteer not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization providing baseball programs for children Pre-K to 15 residing in the Orono school district or attending Orono schools. Our philosophy is to promote the growth and development of players in a fun, fair and safe environment that maximizes player participation and skill development at all levels.

OBA works to keep registration fees low and near our breakeven cost each year. Normal seasonal operating expenses such as equipment replacement, field maintenance and field rental fees constitute the largest share of the organization’s costs.

OBA depends on volunteers to run effectively.  Please consider volunteering to help with an event, run concessions, coach or be a team manager.  Every bit of support helps to effectively manage our association.

Technical Registration Information

You must have a SportsEngine account to register.  You can obtain a SportsEngine account by choosing the “Create an Account” option at the top of the OBA’s Home page (www.oronobaseball.org).  If you have a SportsEngine account, but have forgotten your account login information, choose the “Login” option at the top of the OBA’s Home page and choose the “Need additional help?” option on the Login page.  Please do not contact the OBA for account login information.  We do not have access to this information. Only SportsEngine has this information.

Families with more than one child will receive a discount when registering those additional players.  Please register your oldest player first, then down to the youngest.  Note:  In order for the registration system to recognize that your family is registering multiple players for the “family plan discount”, please register all of your players during one registration process.  On the Review Page near the end of the registration, there is a “Register Another Player” link near the bottom of the page.  Failure to register all players during a single registration session will result in a forfeiture of the discounted rate.

Financial assistance.  The Orono Baseball Association recognizes that participation in youth sports may be financially challenging for some families in our community.  It is our hope that no child is excluded from participating in baseball due to financial reasons. Please contact the OBA Treasurer to confidentially discuss financial assistance needs before registering.

Payment. Online registration requires payment via Visa, MasterCard, Discover or checking account.  After your registration has been processed, you will receive an email receipt and see a charge on your payment method account from Orono Baseball Association.
