We are now accepting applications for our 2024 travel & tournament baseball team coaching positions. Our travel teams compete at various levels of competition between the ages of 9 - 15 years old.
Our 9 year old tournament teams will compete in 2 weekend tournaments in June and potentially 1-2 state tournaments in July. Coaches at this level can expect 1-2 practices per week from late-April/early-May thru mid-July and must be committed to the 2-4 weekend tournaments. (This is a separate team from the Majors In House team the kids will also play on. It is encouraged & appreciated if tournament team coaches also coach a Majors team.)
The 10U - 15U levels will be travel teams. (For more details on the 10U change, visit the OBA programs page.) The travel season consists of approximately 14 league games plus playoffs. These teams also compete in 3-5 weekend tournaments in May-July (weekend qualifier tournaments and possible state tournaments). Coaches at these levels can expect 3-4 practices and games per week early-April thru mid-July + weekend tournaments.
Coaches are selected by the OBA Baseball Operations Committee. Those interested in coaching must complete and submit an application for consideration. Primary selection criteria include past baseball coaching and playing experience, personal coaching and human development philosophies, previous feedback based on OBA surveys, organizational skills, strong moral and ethical characteristics, support of travel baseball and OBA policies & procedures and the applicant’s commitment to devote a significant amount of time to the program during the season. All candidates must also complete our “Trusted Coaches” program prior to final selection and placement.
There will be a mandatory travel coaches meeting for named coaches on Tuesday, April 2 - location TBD.
